I've got this DT155 that has a Washburn Wonderbar trem on it, and the trem seems to have more value by itself than I can get for it on this guitar. So can anyone help identify what the stock bridge was; and then, if anyone has one, I'd be interested in buying it or trading for it -- including a trade involving the Wonderbar if you were so inclined. Thanks for any help, folks! ltt |

LTT, DT155's came with either a 6-screw Fender style or an Ibanez Powerocker (depending on the year). Assuming no modifications were made to install the Washburn, you should see a recess for the pivot plate between the bridge pickup and the trem cavity if it was a Powerocker. A photo with the Wonderbar removed would help. The Bear |

The DT-155 (83-84) only came with the fender style trem. |

Laaz, What's the model number on this? Looks like a DT155 with a Powerocker to me. I see these on eBay as often as the Fender type. The Bear |

Steve you are correct I was thinking you meant the Hardrocker trem. for some reason. |

Gee Laaz, I never get confused That's sarcasm for those who don't get it Is there any pattern to the DT155 bridge type? Early vs late, '83 vs'84, or was it hit and miss? The Bear |

Good call -- I'll pull the bridge and see what the original mounts were. The nice thing about the Wonderbar is that it's a surface-only mount -- part of its appeal was/is that you don't have to make any routing modifications to use it. I'll post what I find shortly. Thanks!! ltt |

So it's the 6-hole version. http://www.harrisonfamily.org/bass/showpic.php?pic=ibanezdestroyer/PB270993.JPG |

On the topic of any patterns to which models got which bridge, I'm looking at a few, including my own, and here's what I'm seeing so far: Serial #: J833045 http://cgi.ebay.com/IBANEZ-X-SERIES-DT155-DESTROYER-ELECTRIC-GUITAR-WAF_W0QQitem Z200052185542QQihZ010QQcategoryZ33043QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem 6-hole bridge, sure grip knobs Serial #: L833336 http://cgi.ebay.com/Ibanez-DT155-X-Series-Destroyer-Floyd-Rose-3pickup-OHSC_W0QQ itemZ170052246985QQihZ007QQcategoryZ33043QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem :-( terrible pic, and the description said it had a floyd rose -- so that surely was added later. Can't see the knobs either...awaiting info from the seller. Serial #: K843545 http://cgi.ebay.com/Ibanez-Destroyer-X-Series-DT155-MINT-NR_W0QQitemZ30004859805 8QQihZ020QQcategoryZ33043QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Power Rockr bridge, black plastic fluted knobs (same kind I have on my RS135WH) Serial #: K302800 (mine) http://www.harrisonfamily.org/bass/photogallery.php?gallery=ibanezdestroyer&page =1&picsperpage=40 6-hole bridge, gold speed knobs...I'm starting to doubt they're original. So...um...I don't think these reveal any useful info on the issue...ah well... And now I'm officially weirded out. I found this thread, with a post by Mr. Roadstar: http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/discus/messages/5751/8404.html a little below middle...note the serial...and then note the orientation of the four corner screws... Here's a closeup of the neck plate on my DT155: http://www.harrisonfamily.org/bass/showpic.php?pic=ibanezdestroyer/P1230069.JPG I'm not kidding, unless that's not actually a serial number, I think it's the same guitar. Hey Steve -- if it IS, can you tell me anything about it from the time of that picture -- original config, knobs, etc.? And did you figure out what that serial number meant? I'm thinking I'd like to restore this to its original configuration...the neck is all it will ever be since the truss nut was shorn off...happily it's in a good place, so it's playable... Anyway, just some info for everyone, and a reminder that I'm in the market for an original bridge (6-hole fender type) for this DT155. And depending on the original knobs, I may be in the market for those too (unless they're speed grips -- those sell for too much these days). Thanks all!! ltt |

I have no idea where that "K30****" serial number photo came from. However, it does look like the same neck plate as the one you posted !! Apparently the Powerocker and the Tek Grip knobs were both introduced in 1984. The SureGrip II knobs first appeared on 1983 models. I have some black SureGrip II's and some Tek Grip's if you're interested. Price negotiable... The Bear |

That's pretty funny, though...seeing that same guitar from much earlier in its life... So I got feedback from the guy selling the marine blue one on eBay now: Serial # K302648 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=019&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT &viewitem=&item=290056428551&rd=1&rd=1 He sent me closeups and it has the suregrips, but here's the interesting thing: the bridge is a 6-hole, and looks old. BUT, its saddles are a strip of metal bent in an S shape, with a hump where the string breaks, and an J up at the back for the bridge screw and spring to go through. What's interesting to me is that the only other place I've seen a bridge like that is on very very recent Fender Mex Strats ('05s and '06s) -- I thought it was a new way to make cheaper bridges. Is it possible that's a stock feature of a 1983/4 Ibanez?? Maybe that correlates to these K30**** serials...bit of a mystery... I may ping you about the suregrips...but they're worth a bit more than I can bring myself to spend on control knobs :-) we'll see... Thanks all! |

Just a bump to re-request any leads on a stock bridge for my DT155 -- it would be a 6-hole fender style, based on the info Mr.Roadstar helped me out with (thanks Bear!!) I sold the Wonderbar so now the DT155 is bridgeless and forlorn :-( cheers all! ltt |

So on the plus side -- I just snagged a Silver Cadet from a guy, and it looks like the bridge from that is gonna fit this DT155 perfectly... Oh, that also means that now I'm in the market for a few more bits and pieces (as I mangle these instruments): a silver cadet pickguard (the one coming with this SC is not original and doesn't fit properly), and a trem claw (springs are nice but not necessary). But that'll be material for another thread... |

Just wanted to bump this because it turned out that the bridge on the silver cadet didn't fit my DT-155 after all. I've got this funky black bridge on it now, but it's not a great option -- hard to describe, but basically you can't adjust anything easily. I am also still in the market for a pickguard for the silver cadet...really would like something cheap since the guitar itself is a pile of parts at this point... Cheers all! ltt |
