Hey Guys, i'm puting my beatiful, all original, 1981 AS 100 up for sale. it's in pretty much mint condition. as good as you will find anywhere for a 1981. Plays and sounds amazing. Professional setup, perfect neck. Total 1981 time capsule with beautiful birds eye everywhere. i tried to capture it in the pics. i just wanted to post this here for you guys before i put it up for sale on ebay. i'm located in atlanta, ga and you can reach me at kinglenario@yahoo.com the only issues with the guitar are: a tiny, tiny bit of pitting in the chrome pickup covers, and one TINY little nick in the finnish on the corner of the headstock. that's it! everything else is perfect. has the original brass/bone nut. also has a very, very small ammount of fret wear. this is an awesome guitar.

I wonder: how does the 2629/AS100 compare vs. the 2630/AS200? My '79 2630/AS200 was the best guitar I ever owned. The 2629/AS100 are less ornate versions. Does the workmanship & playability compare? mk |

it seems that the build quality of this AS100 is right on par with that of my 1979 2630. some of the materials are a little different so the AS100 is a bit lighter weight and more resonant, more like a 335. tone wise this guitar is awesome and keeps right up with the 2630 ever step of the way. the neck is awesome and almost exactly the same as the 2630, perfectly straight and very low action. the birds eye maple all over this guitar is pretty amazing as well. |

I have owned a 2630, an AS50, three AS100's, and two AS200's. All were made between 1978 and 1983. They all have the same high quality. The differences are in the size-AS50, the shape-2630, inlaids and mterials used. They all weigh different from different wood used and in the case of the AS50, the thickness of the wood. |

I love the AS50 size & weight. I sold my 2630 because of the size & weight. I'm a small guy and I found it to be bottom heavy and somewhat large for me. How about the 2926/AS100? Is it the same size & weight as the 2630/AS200? mk |

this one is noticably lighter then the 2630. probably almost exactly the same as a 335. |

Ya know, if you squint a little, that AS100 looks very much like those wonderful '80's LR10 models. |

The AS100/200's all weight about nine pounds. The 2630 was about eight pounds and the AS50's were around 7.5 pounds. |

Am I interested??? Yes....but no. Sorry, but I'm in selling mode now, but believe me, your AS100 is very tempting... The condition is very much to my liking. If it doesn't sell, down the road, keep reminding me. Maybe things will change. Now if I buy something else, please don't jump all over me! mk |

Mike I have a wine finish 77' 2629. Its a beauty. Birch body and very warm sounding. I prefer it over the 78' 2630 I used to own. True not as ornate as a 2630 but neither was the 335 compared to the 355 when they hit the street in the late 50's. six |

Colin: Now that you own a 2630/AS200, how do you compare it vs. the AS100? mk |

since these two were built really near each other they are pretty similar. the as100 is lighter so it resonates more. sounds more hollow. they both play very similarly. the neck profiles seem exactly the same although i like the ebony board more on the 2630. |

I have one of these wine red as-100 semi-acoustics from '80 '81 or '82 can't remember the year. It is very comfortable to play and sounds great. I need to extricate one of the small pickup surround screws that is JUST sticking out of the woood... can't grab it... and the pickup surrounds are cracking at the screw corners... I'll have to check for Birdseye though... can't remember if it has the bird... the nut could be raised a tad.. gettin old... Any other comments on these bad boys? Is the burgundy color common or rare... Is sunburst the more common style? |
