I've decided to stop collecting and start playing so here you go:

1980 AR300
All guitars are perfectly setup, excellent players, more pictures and info per mail.

I forgot to mention, both the AR300 and FA100 come with OHSC, the AR100 with a new non original case. The guitars are located in Germany.

I appreciate any offers by mail. I have to point out however, that due to the current dollar to euro exchange rate and the shipping cost of 74 euros these instruments might not be very attractive to US buyers.

I hate to admit it but jazz boxes are pretty hot sellers.It maybe a class thing? I'll have to look deeper into this strange phenomenon |

It takes a different kind of craftsmanship to make a good hollow body. A company needs a master luthier to design/ make them.
Take Fender for instance: Leo Fender was the Henry Ford of the guitar industry. He designed his solid body guitars in such a way that the bodies were milled out of a flat piece of wood. So you need an operator for saw bench and the milling cutter. Not particular high educated craftsmen, so they're cheap. The who guitar building procedure was based on the assembly of prefab parts, and even the production of the prefab parts was kept as cheap as possible.
In the whole company was ONE guy who was a real master luthier: Roger Rossmeisl. He designed the LTD, the Coronado (II) and the Starcaster.
He was the son of a German jazz guitarist and master builder Wensel Rossmeisl from Mittenwald. He built probably the first electric pickup for Coco Schumann in 1946/47 with old army wireless materials.
When Roger emigrated to the USA in 1952, he started at Gibson, then went to Rickenbacker and then to Fender in 1962.
The production of his models was like of all hollow bodies labour-intensive and expensive. The production is always slower and lower. So they are alway more rare than straightforward solid bodies.
They are also more vulnerable than solid bodies. The damage of a fall or pressure (sitting on it) is immediately devastating. So finding a vintage minty jazz box is always considered something special. Besides they have very sexy curves.
There is one thing that makes it possible to find these minty ones and that's the careful and respectful behaviour of jazz guitarists: there are no Pete Townshends among them.
It's the same when you collect old vinyl guitar records: the average classical guitar and jazz guitar records are in better condition than the average rock/ heavy metal records.

Ah ha that makes sense Ginger!I have to say just from observing,the treads on ICW the members are in a class all by themsleves(i mean that in a good way !)I still say there is a class(maybe class is not the rightword) division between jazz box collectors and the avg.rock guitar/metal players /collectors.Im guessing you could say the same about the Jazz enthusiast vs.Headbanger?Although i have noticed there is no difference between how much a Headbanger would pay for the guitar he or she wants vs. a Jazz box colloctor.Lastly looking at this from a purely Objectivist point of view,there isnt really much difference, just a matter of choice and taste! |

Dave~ All's well that ends well and congratulations on successful sales...especially that fantastic '80 LR10 of yours that I now have parked in my music room!!
Now I have a very clean 'collectable' one (yours) and a beater for rowdy gigs.
