Hey Gang, Just won a slightly abused PF300 from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250075500128&ssPageName= STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=015 . I'm almost positive it's not a PF400 because of the tail etc... I had a minty chocolate PF300 with gold hardware that I traded in on a HM Strat like an idiot in 1989. I've always kicked myself for doing that. Paid $300 for it and a Gorilla amp back in the day. Anyway...looking for the TRC, correct knobs, and any other goodies to get the project going. Thanks!!! |

Pick Guard...Correct Pups...etc...come on guys, I heard this was the board for immediate action ;) I'm a serious collector of wood ;) Leaving my greater LP's out of the wall hanging section for now, but, those can be added ;) |

Cyber, I feel your pain. I too am trying to piece together an abused PF. Be patient the guys on here are great and they will definetly help in anyway they can. I saw some super 70s on eBay not too long ago. Is there not an aftermarket pickguard that would fit the PF, maybe at WD or Allparts? Good luck. |

Mattfrox, How is your project coming along??? Love to see pics of your progress if you have some. What color do you have??? I can tell by reading the boards that this is a quality forum, full of nice axe swingers! It has been 18 years since I had a PF300 in my hands, are we thinking the LP pick guard will fit?? I have a few if that be the case...thanks for the tip. Cyber |

Cyber, Project is comin slow, but i am pleased with the way things are going. I will post some pics of it soon. Mine is the PF400...its Antique Violin Finish. If you f\do a ICW search for PF or Performer you will get lots of hits. I remember reading somewhere on here about the aftermarket LP pickguards fitting the PFs. In a worst case scenerio you could get a custom one made. I looked on WD and Allparts and there are some that look like they will fit. Perhaps someone on here could verify that. |

Cyber, One generous fella here hooked me up the very first week...Some other stuff, I've been waiting for over 6 months...you just need to be patient, and respectful...not everyone just opens their parts bin up cuz someone post an ad. Just get involved, hangout... Just wondering..you not worry about hanging such fine axes? Lotta coin there...over time the lacquer reacts with the material on the mount and permenent damage results to the neck\headstock joint area...not even to mention the bottoms touching the wall, or nuckleheads bumping into them...eek...scary. I just can't put my prizes out like that and not be nervous. Nice collection none the less...especially that LP! I have Jimmy Page LP flamed beyond belief...check er out:

Mattfrox: Thanks for the tips, cant wait to see some pictures of your progress. Jcmc64: Sweet top on that JP 4 sure! Better hang on to that one for a long time. I actually put quilted cloth on the contact points of those hangers, and the backs stand about 1" off the walls. They get more abuse from the palm of my left hand than anything ;) Here's a couple more photos. The HM Strat is the very one I traded my PF300 in on in 1989, she's a great player. The Platinum LP was hanging in a local music store since 2002 and a LP collector friend of mine bought it for me on my birthday this past June, he'd been drinking that day ;) Peace Guys Cyber |

Thx...she is a early 95' JP LP too (first year), with the very rare kidney bean grovers (for the JP's I mean). The best thing about her is she is in GEM Mint condition...not a single mark on her anywhere, case is the same...I friggin clear the room of everything when I take her out! Cyber...love all things LP!! Is that a Chrome TR cover, and pick guard on the LP? Here's another Gibby LP in Gem Mint cond Good luck on the PF restore...I will keep my eyes open for the both of ya. |

Jcm...Sweet matching on that top!!! Stop doing that or I'll start shopping again ;) The PLP has a brushed chrome (platinum they call it) pickguard and TRC. They are great, but, the finish will ping if you breathe on it too hard! Ebony board also with no markers. Here's more info: http://www.gibson.com/products/gibson/lespaul/PlatinumDatasheet.pdf Peace Cyber |

Hey JC, How you like the Martin? Its a pretty crazy guitar. Very little wood. How would you compare sound/playability to other acosutics? |

Freak,,,my xray powers don't work to well anymore...couldn't even see that tiny writing... Matt...you know, I played quite a few of the different shallow bodied acoustics, differnt makes\models , etc, and this one actually stood out, when amplified through a Fender acoustic amp...I was blown away how great it sounded...that was enough for me as I already loved the uniqueness of the Aluminum top...very crisp and clear, adequate bottom, very resonant....The back and sides are "formed from high-pressure laminate and the fingerboard and bridge are made from Micarta". It's the Enviro friendly guitar of the future (so Martin says) when wood will be scarce....whatever. Unamplified it is pretty decent too, for a shallow Grand Concert design...Eventually she will get a bone saddle and nut. |
