I need a at least 4 of the nuts which tighten the gibralter bridge. I know these are a pain to find, but as we all know it makes a huge difference in playability. |

Umm. You have the posts? I dont know how much of a purist you are but the nuts are M5 0.8. That is 5 mm diameter 0.8 pitch thread. These are fairly common and most hardware stores should stock these (McMaster Carr). I reckon that polished up brass ones would be nearly identical to the NOS plated ones. You may even be able to get plated ones in a really good hardware store (check fine furniture hardware). Just an option i guess. |

Matt, I have found the correct size threads, however after numerous hardware searches, I have not found any that will fit in the recess. I guess I will have to keep looking. |

I think i know what you mean. The nuts are too wide to fit in the countersunk bridge hole? I will do a check tomorrow and let you know what i find. |

Cmangeot, I checked the nuts today they are 8mm wide. Go to McMaster-Carr and do a search for brass nuts. There are M5 0.8 that are 8mm wide (available in 2.7 or 4mm height). A bag of 100 cost $7.41...a real good deal in my opinion. Part # 90690A046. Matt |

Matt, Thanks for the tip. I just ordered 100, with shipping still only $11 & change. They have a pretty extensive hardware selection. I will let you know how they work out. Thanks ... Rick |

Cmangeot, here is another (although possibly unlikely) way to obtain the original nuts for your Gibraltar bridge: In case you own an Artist model that was made between 1983 and 1987 you might already have those nuts without even knowing it! Those Artists had a shielding box that houses the electronics. I checked an '86 and an '87 model and to my surprise I found a gold plated nut of a Gibraltar bridge holding the cover of that box in place! Juergen |

Wow, Talk about service! I ordered the nuts yesterday morning and they were already delivered to me at work! I haven't tried them yet but they look like they'll work fine. If anybody needs a few let me know. Matt, Thanks for the tip ...... Rick |

Bond...when you get a chance, can you post a pic of one of the new ones, maybe next to an original one for comparison? Thx. |
