Someone locally is selling an Ibanez acoustic ... he's telling me the label says "AW 70 LG" and "98023438" ... any ideas on age / construction / materials / history?

Thanks much!

Oops - I think I found my answer by searching older posts in the forum:

"... I have a 1998 Acoustic catalog. It says the AW70 LG has a solid Sitka spruce top, scalloped bracing, mahogany back, sides and neck, rosewood fretboard and bridge, pearl dot inlays, chrome die cast tuners. LG stands for "Low Gloss" finish. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but they are Korean made, no? ..."

Any idea though what this one would have sold for new?

Thanks again -

Those words cut right through me: "O captain, my captain!"

They stand for what's wrong with present day education in the Netherlands: if you want to keep your job, stick safely to the book. A book often written by colleagues like this principal.

Poets and guitarists are dangerous in this respect: they dare to dream. If we strongly believe that "this machine kills fascists", it might do so...

So much for the brainwave triggered by your words, Mike...

Bad day? Nah, just a headache from the heat.
But some some quotes touch me, just like some songs, or guitar solos.
"O captain, my captain!" is one of them. Can't help it.

Sorry, no intent to offend anyone by the title of the thread - really ... only a sleep-deprived attempt at humor, which was apparently misunderstood ...

Cap'n, thanks yet again for your speedy post with great info.

Seller is asking $150 US for the guitar and OHSC ... seem reasonable if in decent shape?

Oh, no offence taken. I think your sense of humour is O.K., you just touched more than one string, or it was just resonance/feedback. The human brain is a complicated instrument. Perhaps I should be restrung... or wax-potted... haha...

Friendly SysOp Advice: Think about why people come to this specific source and what they take the time and effort to start a conversation about. It's about information. In this case, an Ibanez AW70 Acoustic guitar.

Over the years, I recognized that conversations were organic and tangents inevitable. That's why I created sections on this board where it's more appropriate to converse about tangential thoughts that might resonant with other forum members. Those would be the Miscellaneous section or the Players Lounge.

Disclaimer: No offense is meant and none should be taken.

John, you're right. My apologies.

And, sorry for drifting off topic, MikeyJC. I think Cappy gave you all the relevant data on this item (which is a *future* collectible!!) :-)
