i just purchased this guitar for cheap!!!! i was looking, actually, for a takamine or something else. however, since this guitar fit me stylistically, and sound-wise, and budget-wise, i thought that i'd give it a go.
i'm not that familiar w/ibanez, (though i know the name), and like older ibanez's-i guess i wanted some feedback.
the other web sites have little or no user comments.
anyone know???

VERY NICE for the$$$
Solid sitka spruce top,bookmatched mahogany back,and real BIG SOUND!
Hard to believe they can offer something like this for so little......
Room for improvement on the action though.

Hi just cama across this site. I've owned an Ibanez artwood 100 for about 13 years. Found it in a pawnshop in Australia for $100. It had three strings and three tuners and half an inch of dirt. I could see it was a well made guitar and the wood looked pretty nice and so I bought it. 13 years later it's sitting next to me here in Helsinki. Last week I recorded with it and it sounds great. It's the longest I've ever had an accoustic guitar.
It took quite a while to get it to sound really good though and stay in tune. After fitting a good set of tuners the next thing I did was have a fishman fitted but since fishmans are only about 2mm wide and the Ibanez's saddle was about 5mm wide the repairman suggested that he fill the bridge and reroute it 2mm wide and fit a new saddle. The difference in sound was amazing! it was even louder than before! When I was in england a couple of years ago I had it refretted with tall skinny frets. That seemed to make it sound warmer.
It really prefers medium guage strings for the fullest sound but the neck is a bit soft and I have to regularly adjust the truss rod (every six months or so) If the action gets too high- more than 1.5mm at the 12th fret then the intonation seems to go out. So the best thing seems to be Low Action and Medium (13's) strings.
I love this guitar, it's loud, responsive, sustains well, plays easy and gets better every year. Sure it doesnt have the subtleness of some of the very best Martins etc but it's probably the best all round accoustic I've ever had.
