Ace:

Got any close ups? How about a serial number on the neck block or label?

These older acoustics can be real difficult to pinpoint, model number wise. Seems like they changed specs more than once a year. And there were lots of variations on the theme.

Ace, Nice catch. Its a 755 concord. If I were to guess, I'd say is a 73 or 74.

I saw that one on eBay as well today. Great price, too. These concords have been getting almost twice what you paid. I have a friend that has an early 70s concord acoustic with a maple board. Every time we get together, I always let him play my Taylor just so I can get my hands on his concord. He always thinks I'm doing HIM a favor by letting him play my Taylor :-).

The Concords are very nice considering how (relatively) inexpensive they were back in the seventies. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Good luck with it.

Jeff:

That was fast! Hey, what sources do you have for acoustics? I can't find a model 755 listed in any of the on-line sites I know about.

I stumbled upon it this morning. I played an original Gibson Hummingbird acoustic once about 30 years ago and it was a fine guitar. I jumped on this even though I don't know anything about this model. I figure if they are like the Ibanez electric copies, I really can't go wrong. Glad to hear what Jeff has said, very assuring indeed.

I'll post pictures when I receive it.

Johns, There's really no magic here, The seller had the model number listed!

There have been quite a few Concord acoustics lately on eBay. They've been catching my attention because I'm on the fence about getting one. Quite often the model numbers that the sellers' reference from the sound hole labels are not listed in any of the on-line catalogues.

Like most members, I rely on Hary/Hasy's and Rich Harris' sites for their catalogue scans and information. The 756 is listed in the 75 & 76 catalogue, but no 755. I assume there were quite a few variations in the Concord line and not all of them made it into the catalogues.

Hi Jeff,

I couldn't find anything about this model either. Do you know how does it compare to the "600" series of hummingbird acoustics?

Ace, I couldn't tell you as I have never played one myself. Like I said, my friend has a early 70s concord and that's the only Ibanez acoustic I ever played until I got my EP7.
