Hi, I've just bought a near-mint 693 Dove copy but it doesn't seem to have a serial number and I'd like some help dating it. I've looked on all the obvious places, on the label, on the neck block but nothing. Any ideas?
Also if there are any repair gurus out there, the only issue with the guitar is the bottom of the bridge is lifting slightly, looks like the glue has given in. Is it an easy fix?
Thanks for your time.
Dave

I just joined this group to post a message - first of all, never been an Ibanez collector that I knew of; found out today that my 1978 Starfield was made by their parent company. I have a Starfield 693, as it says inside on the label, but I see in this photo that this guitar says "Ibanez" in abalony. Mine says "Starfield" - very interesting. I've never found an exact match to my guitar, but this one comes the closet - everything but the engraved name is identical. Anybody out there have this same guitar but with the "Starfield" logo? Thanks.

Cheeseboy,

Great looking Dove Copy.

If the bridge is separating from the top, it could be possible that the top is buckling causing the bridge to lift.
Check the top to see if this is the case by placing a ruler on edge across the top.

The easy fix is to remove the bridge and reshape the underside of the bridge to match any buckle in the top before refixing.

Cheeseboy,

It may just be that your acoustic is pre serial #. I shouldn't worry about it as many Ibanez guitars across all ranges were void of these # until 1976 - ish.

And thats a big "ISH"
