I have a beautiful Ibanez Corcord Model 699S. I think the wood is maple. The pegs are gold. I bought it new 1978 or 1979. It was played about 20 times, has been kept in a case and well protected since then. Excellent conditon. Anyone know what the approximate worth of this guitar would be? I am thinking about selling it. |

Jeanne: Is this the model with Maple back and sides, and Spruce top? Depending on the year, I've seen them with either a Maple or Rosewood fretboard. Which does your's have? This info is dated, but as of 12/04 the ebay auction statistics were:
| Mod No | Desc | Avg Cond | Sales | Hi | Low | Avg | Avg 4/04 | Avg 12/04 | 699-6 | Concord 6 string | 9.2 | 5 | 450 | 232 | None | - | 308 | BTW, the original list price was $200, back in the mid 70s. |

There's a 699S listed on eBay now. Looks pretty nice, but there are some things I don't know about. I can't find an "S" model in the catalog scans. If you look carefully at this listing, there are some things that do appear to be different. 1. The catalog shows that the standard 699 has an adjustable bridge. This 699S does not. 2. The tuners in this listing look like they might be Ibanez "star" tuners, but maybe these just aren't stock tuners. I was thinking maybe "S" meant "star" tuners, but I doubt it. Normally, S stands for SOLID. Mostly that's just solid top, but it could also mean that the back and sides are also solid. On the classical Andorra guitars for instance, they use the S from the type GA150 and up, so the 1988 list goes like: GA30 GA40 GA50 GA60 GA80 GA110 GA150S GA250S My Andorra GA300S is not on that list, but I KNOW that the back and sides are laminated rosewood, and NOT solid, because I bought it repaired from my luthier and friend Harry, because of its sweet and warm sound. It was better sounding than every new Spanish guitar in the shop. (His stock models went up to nearly 2000 guilders back then, and ƒ1695.- non-amplified.) Ginger |

BTW, did you see the other maple Concord with the broken bridge? I don't know if it's still there, but it looked like an interesting project. Ginger |

^ Yup, I saw the concords on the bay, Ginger. THere's a 670 and another 699. I did see the one with the broken bridge. If only I were a luthier... So, "S" normally implies "solid?" Aren't the Concord-era maples already solid? Interesting. Maybe not! I know my 1982 Maple series M-310 is *not* solid. |

I just checked my M330 Maple and I believe it's laminate also. Nice guitar though. |

What year is your guitar, Hamhand? Can you give me full serial number information and neck block stamp information (if any)? I've been compiling a list in another thread... |
