Hello! Greetings from London, UK. Am new here and would like some information if at all possible. I wonder if you can help me with a question about an old Ibanez acoustic guitar? First of all, I should say that I am a left-handed guitar player. Of course, this seriously limits the choice of guitar I am able to play! I have been offered an Ibanez 615L acoustic guitar (serial number unknown) and I wonder if you can tell me anything about this guitar? It certainly plays well and has a very nice sound. The guitar is quite heavy and I would guess that it is made of mahogany. It has nice mother of pearl inlays on the fret board. Do you have any idea as to the year of manufacture? I can just about make out the numbers 76 at the beginning of the serial number inside the body of the guitar and I presume that the 76 may refer to the year of manufacture. However, if you have any other info about this guitar I’d be very grateful. I have searched the Ibanez vintage archive page from 1970-79 but I cannot find anything. If presume that this model (615L) was a replica model but if you could also tell me what it was a replica of I’d be grateful. Thank you in advance for any advice/help you can offer. Yours sincerely, Steve Mitchell PS - By the way, the dealer in the UK admits to knowing absolutely nothing about the guitar but wants a price of GBP 150.00 for it (approx. Euros 215.00 or USD 265.00). |
