Jazzzbo, the 513 model mandolin is made from a carved solid spruce top with curly maple back and sides with a mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard with pearloid inlays. The hardware is chrome and was available in Cherry Sunburst only. It used to retail for $209 dollars australian back in the 70's. The mandolins were all made in Japan, and each model is highly collectable these days. Captain Ibanez |

Jazz, I have seen lately some Ibanez madolins changing hands for around $800 - $1000 in very good condition. Not being a mandolin player myself, I can only comment on what players have told me over the years. One comment always was how much better quality they were compared to Gibson and Washburn.Another was players amazement at the tonal quality of the Ibanez range. As far as whats out there today, you would have to spend a lot of money to get a mandolin of such high quality and craftsmanship from the 70's Ibanez range. Captain Ibanez |

I know this is an old post, but I thought that I would make a correction, the 513 isn't a solid top. It was an entry level that Retailed @ $149.00 new. Not to be confused with the 522, which is also a florentine, but is a solid top and has a lot more detail. The 522 would bring around $500-600 today. The 513, would be lucky to bring $300-350 today. The f-style 523-529 are the ones that are collectible a bring more money |
