Lone Star acoustic.

Author Message   max Posted on Sunday, April 15, 2001 - 7:29 am:    I have a Lone Star series acoustic with the Machine heads all in a line on the head which is unusual on an acoustic. It also has a slimmer neck than your average guitar.I have been told that it was designed with electric guitarists in mind.Does anyone have any info on this model.   orval engling (Orval) Posted on Sunday, April 15, 2001 - 7:55 pm:    "a slimmed down neck for a more comfortable feel, particularly if your main instrument is an electric guitar" (an excerpt from the 1986 catalog. this series is one of the most overlooked in the vintage ibanez market, and probably one of the easiest playing acoustics that i have ever played (and everyone thought my vintage takamine had incredibly low action for an acoustic guitar) one of the best was the LE520DV, a hybrid ac/el with piezo,humbucker, and looks to kill, way ahead of it's time.   Ccs (Ccs) Posted on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 - 2:22 pm:    This is from the '84-'85 catalog: Left to right are:LS300,LS300MS,LS300BK,LS305TV,LS370 and LS380. All are dreadnoughts exept the 305,a cutaway.All have spruce tops,the 300 and 305 have mahogany back and sides but the 370 has maple and the 380 has birds eye maple.All have black and white binding.The 300 and 305 have mahogany necks and the 370 and 380 have maple.All have rosewood fingerboard except the 370 which is maple.All have a rosewood bridge with Tru-Tune saddle,ivory with black dot end pins and chrome covered machine heads.The 300 came in natural gloss,marine sunburst or black,the 305 in traditional violin and the 370 and 380 in natural gloss.   JohnS Posted on Tuesday, October 30, 2001 - 2:29 pm:    Ccs: Thanks for the pictures and info. The LS370 looks like the earlier NW40 (or the NW340) with this "slim" neck. Say, could you tell me all the serial number information and label text details, as well as any branded number on the wood inside the soundhole? We're keeping a list of this information to help figure out the serial numbering system. Of course. It had electronics on board The Lonestar LS300 was 695 guilders new in 1988. It had NO electronics on board. The latter went up 50 guilders in 1989. The difficulty with the Lonestar range is, that it was discontinued and we can't see the inflation correction we would have seen, when it would have stayed in production. (It's easier to follow the GB10 through the years). Fact is that the Lonestars were not cheap back then and that applying the 2/3 of the 1988 list price rule wouldn't do any right to these guitars It would mean the LE300 would be worth about 280 euros today. And that's ridiculously low for a MIJ solid top flattop guitar with electronics on board.
