Hello all, new to the board here. A friend of my girlfriend approached us about selling a guitar she had laying around the house (we do a little ebay consignment on the side) She told us it was a model 67C-12. I did a ton of research and could find nothing listed for this model.
She finally brought us the guitar and it appears that the "C" is really a "0". This made things much clearer. What I have found out about this guitar is that it was made in 1978 (if I have learnerd to read Ibanez serial numbers correctly - I780494) It has flamed maple back and sides and I assume top. A rock maple fingerboard and an adjustable rosewood bridge. In my opinion it is gorgeous, other than some cosmetic cracks in the finish.
I took it to Guitar Center this weekend as I wanted to make sure the top was not split and that the problems with the top were just cosmetic. Looks like the problems are only superficial problems with the finish and the top is solid.
In its current state, it was unplayable as it needed to be setup badly and the strings had to have been about 14 years old. I am also having the bridge pins replaced as none of them matched. As you can imagine, I am eager to play this thing and see how it sounds. I should know by this weekend.
So, now to the question. Do any of you know anything about this model? Does the information I have gleaned from the net hold true? What do you think is a reasonable value of this guitar? I saw what appeared to be a similar model sell on ebay for $200 usd. However, I dont think it was adequately described as it did not list the model, or what it was made of, etc. The guitar tech swagged a value of between $300 and $400 usd but again this was just a guess.
I guess it boils down to weather I want to try and buy it or sell it as was the original plan and any information you can give would be helpful in making this decision.

Hey thanks for the reply. Wish I could post pics but had to leave it in Atalnta. I am having it set-up, the bridge pins and strings replaced. I will try and post pics this weekend after I pick it up. Like I said I cant wait to hear how it sounds.

Looks like your info is correct, except that I would assume a spruce top rather than maple (unless proved otherwise). According to the price list on that site, it was $250.00 USD when new. |

Well,as of this afternoon this guitar is now mine.My first new ibanez in probably about a year and I'm 100% satisfied.The guitar is awesome and Triegger was a pleasure to deal with.I wish they all went this well.

Yes it is.Model 2459.She should have a nice new set of frets in a month or so.I still need to score the V and the Modern to complete the set. |
