...somehow being ignored so far. If I don't own a similar one already, I would definitely not pass at this price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=3765132739&ssPageName=ST RK:MEWA:IT |

Hi mkaufman, Did you get my second e-mail? Cloud9 said it was "challenged", whatever that means. |

Yes, I have mine, and I like the way it sounds, however, some things are bothering me. The action is pretty high, especially in the higher frets. When I get around the 7th fret & higher, I can barely press the strings down hard enough to meet the frets. Also, there are definitely fret issues higher up on the neck. Any ideas? Michael |

Hi Michael, It seems that some of the AE's and later LE's from the eighties have higher action than others. My AE405TV and LE520 both had their tail-piece sanded down by their previous owners to accommedate their lower action. The LE520 had the whole center part of the tail-piece lowered (you can see the slightly different color), whereas the AE405 had the area directly below the high and low E strings taken out(not very clear in the picture and it is not as clean a modification but works the same way). The action on my other LE and AE are low and fast as you would expect from Ibanez though. I don't know much about acoustic guitars so may be sanding down the tail-piece is a no-no but it seems to help to lower the action. Ace |
