hi, newbie to this site but long time ibanez fan. picked up this guitar for £90 including postage on ebay (around $180) i was just wondering if my suspions where correct and this actually is what i think it is and if it was a good buy? (a bit late now but oh well) contacted the guy before i bid and says its in excellent condition and all electronics etc are working although i dont think he knows much about the guitar or what it is (check the heading) link - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih =020&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=30 0086583246&rd=1&rd=1 ive never had an old ibanez before, anyone who could tell me what to look for once ive received it and if its worth keeping would be a massive help. Thanks |

Welcome to ICW Ibeyfan, This is what we call a "Cool Contemporary". It certainly has some characteristics of the Fender Stratocaster, but it's not a real replica anymore. This is what happened in the eighties. Very nice guitars, Roadstar II. I've got an RB630 Roadstar II bass, which is more like a Precision Bass than this one is like a Strat. Do you know we have a Roadstar specialist on board? Mr. Roadstar aka The Bear. He can tell you all about this little baby, because there are all kinds of types within the Roadstar (II) series. My first impression is that it was a good buy. Ginger |

Hi Ibeyfan - that's the luck of the crap Ebay ad for you - if the seller could actually read, it would have fetched somewhat more than you paid - nice one! Anyway - as it happens, the guitarist in my band plays one of these - his first guitar, had it from new, and still his number one, despite owning good few, including an early 70s Gibson SG. I don't think he's ever had any problems with it, or it's ever needed work done. His is the same as yours - trem & HSS pickups - and it's highly versatile sound-wise. My band plays proggy hard rock with lots of dynamic changes, and the Roadie always sounds good. Anyway - well done getting that, and do post some pics when it arrives. Jon. |

thanks for the reply, i actually found it while having a go on fatfingers.com its a website which searches for ebay spelling mistakes, it never normally brings anything when i'm searching for guitars, it was just pure luck - i read some reviews on various websites after i found out which model it was then it just had to be mine. pics will be up soon |

Ibeyfan: Cool score! Looks like an '84 RS440. Let us know what the serial number is and we'll be able to tell for sure. You can check out all the specs in the Roadstar pages that have been compiled by our very own Mr. Roadstar. http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/RSSpecs83-88-icw.h tml |
