Just recently discovered this forum when searching for info on my new purchase. I'm picking this LP up on Wednesday, here are some pics. http://img479.imageshack.us/my.php?image=610869601 05fk2.jpg http://img479.imageshack.us/my.php?image=613273364 44vv0.jpg The guy I'm buying from says he's doesn't know what model it is only that the guy he bought it from thinks it's japanese made and maybe from 1985-90. He has changed the tuners and humbuckers, and apparantly put on a Gibson logo. Any info you can give me will be greatly appreciated. I will be able to take better pics of it on wednesday if required. I am quite sure it was not an Ibanez however. Weird, they guy said it was an Ibanez .. but you guys would know. I paid 457$ (3200 NOK, 1 Norwegian Crown beeing about 7 Dollars.) for it, about the same as my Epi Lp Special II. I'm sorry, if it's an Ario this doesn't belong in an Ibanez forum, so I'll stop posting about it, but is the guitar not worth what i paid? Even their later 70s LP-based designs had the PE type tapered headstock that became common to lots of Matsumoku designs. If it's an 80s Japanese instrument, then presumably it would have been non-export, with that headstock. Maybe a Greco? Does it have a serial number? I think the price you paid seems fair (for Europe), although the fake logo likely devalues it somewhat. And all of a sudden, every vintage Japanese guitar, regardless of what's on the headstock, becomes an Ibanez as soon as it's for sale! It's a DeVille that is very close to all the other Japanese copies made in the 70's. Mine was given to me by a friend in the late 90's and it sounds amazing. I have A/B'd it against Gibson Les Pauls and it eats them for breakfast. I did fit new pickups though - Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers. I have used the guitar on countless recordings and I always use it on the road. It never leaves my sight.
