Pickup rings are add-on's. Rear pup looks like a Dimarzio. The toggle switch ring has bee changed. Looks from here that the knobs have been changed. They should be black witch hat knobs. The guy is sending me some closeup pictures. I'll compare them against Dave_g's Antoria in the other thread. I'll also get a chance, probably tomorrow night, to look at it in person. It doesn't seem that an Antoria would be just a replica of an Ibanez since they are the same company. And, maybe more to your point, the Custom Agent is not just a replica of a Les Paul. Anyway, I've got the info I need right now to go after this baby. I compared them to the other Antoria pics from the other thread and it looks like that Antoria (now the property of Dave_g) has different volume/tone knobs (not witch-hat). The Ibanez Custom Agent, I believe, has witch-hat knobs. On "my" Antoria (well, hopefully, soon it will be mine) one of the pickups appears original, but the pickup brackets are not black as they should be. I think JohnS will understand what I was trying to get across above. I can't be bothered to explain it. Anyway, it looks like a nice one Chucky. Great to see the original pickguard in place too. BTW, I've had at least a half dozen Antoria guitars with humbuckers over the past 25 years. Most Antoria's came with a ink number stamped on the base of the pickups. None of these guitars had "Super 70" on the bottom of the pickup although apart from that, they are identical in every way so that should save you a few bob. I'm sure a buddy of mine in the UK has a zebra Antoria pup that isn't working. It hadn't been out of its case in years, he said. Right away, I saw that the binding going up the neck was cracked at every fret. The binding elsewhere on the guitar was cracked at other points. There were several large dings (down to the finish) in the laquer, on the neck and body, in noticeable and uncomfortable places. On the underside edge of the side of the body, it looked like there was a crack running exactly midway down the long edge. The pickguard was missing a screw. The dimarzio pickup was poorly mounted and touching the strings. The bridge is non-original. He had added ANOTHER nut at the top of the guitar because the original nut was somehow not good enough. On the good side, everything else was stock, including the witchhat knobs, star tuners, etc. The frets were nice and fat. I liked that a lot. I told him it was a "player", not a collector's piece, and I made my offer. It was then that he told me that he had gotten cold feet and didn't want to sell it any longer. I asked if that meant he had a higher price in mind, but he said no. Then, kind of weirdly, he said I could borrow the guitar for a couple of weeks and gig with it, if I wanted. I said there wasn't much point if at the end of the time, I couldn't buy it. Besides, I'd have to repair the dang thing to make it playable. So I had to walk away. I'm very bummed. If he had sold it to me, I could have made it a labor of love (kind of like Bob and his Scruggs). Ah well. Today I'm off to the Seattle-Tacoma Guitar Show in Kent, WA, and then to look at a 1977 Ibanez EB-3 Bass (2354B).   Sixvsix Username: Sixvsix Registered: 3-2002 Posted on Monday, June 25, 2007 - 9:13 am:    Unlucky Chucke.
