Ibanez copied the Gibson Explorer, Moderne, and Flying V so carefully *except* for the headstock on the Moderne. The Ibanez Futura has what I would consider an off-the-shelf headstock and isn't a copy of the Moderne's headstock. Does anyone know why that was? Thanks, - Pete |

You ever seen a Moderne? The headstock was a disaster. I think it had 6 string trees. This was covered in another thread years ago. The Bear |

Just for the record; since Gibson never produced the Moderne (2 prototypes were built), can you really say Ibanez copied it? The Bear |

If you belive some stories, they made two, but I think one is known as a fake, isn't it. Gibson did make the moderne, but not until the '80s. |

Yup, seen it. Definitely a "distinctive" headstock. I have an Epi clone which I think is a more faithful repro than the Ibanez but...it's not an Ibanez. I thought that 5 Gibson prototypes were made, of which, Billy Gibbons owns one? |
