Okay, at first it may seem like I paid too much -- scold me if you must -- but take a look at those photos! I tinkered with several of the pics, pumping up the gamma trying to bring out any flaws hidden in the black finish, and it looks really clean and all original. The worst seems to be the broken toggle (NBD to me -- probably better to leave as is), a couple of tiny to-the-wood dinks at the top of the headstock, and some light surface scratches or checking in the body. The hardware is about as clean as you could expect for the gold tone stuff.

Even so, it has gotta rate something like a 9.5. What do you think?

BTW -- This is my first bout of GAS in quite some time. As I believe I have noted elsewhere, my first guitar at age 13 was a brand new 1977 2350WH, which I still have, but honestly it probably rates just an 8.0 (and I was as respectful of my gear as teenagers go). I also picked-up a pre-serial 2350WH at a steal a few years back (under $200), and it also rates maybe an 8.0. So, it will be nice in my more "gentle" years to have a cherry LP to go with my modern higher end Ibanezes.

Hey -- I may not post except for big events (for me) like this purchase, but I do look-in every now and then.

I look forward to your comments.

Kirk

Kirk, Sure it was a little pricey, but Olivias-a key supplier of some really tasty vintage gear-isn't known for their low prices ! You will however recieve a VERY NICE collectable vintage guitar for the $ !That guitar is in unreal condition for an such an old lady ! Nice score ! Havn't seen one in such good shape in a very long time !

I had this one on my watch list. I should have guessed it would go quick.

This baby is pristine. You can't put a price on that.

There's lots of beaters out there and very few mint examples like that. Look at the MOP.

I screwed up. Snif.

Good for you.

Well Shrap,

I hate that I made you sad -- been there myself a few times. On the up side, every time you miss one, you'll have more dough on hand for the next eye catcher that comes along, and I'm out (at least for a little while).

BTW - It arrived today (it only crossed one state line), and it is as good or better than what I expected based on the pictures. Did you notce that funky look on the control covers? Yep, you guessed it -- that is the original protective tape. It's a bit faded, but otherwise intact.

The three pick-up sound is great. The trade off is that you can't get as much of a singing sound out of the neck p/u, because the center p/u stays on in the rhythm position. No matter -- it's still got that wailing Super 70's standalone bridge p/u sound, so I'm set.

It turned out to be worth every penny. Olivia's gets an A+++ on the packing job. Thanks to the folks here at ICW for the reassurance that I did not go too far off the deep end.

And Shrap, rest easy knowing this one made it into the hands of a player and true believer.

Namaste,

Kirk Singh

Good for you buddy !!!

Protective tape, that is incredible man. You really landed.

And yes Olivia looks like a fine piece of work. Her inventory is pretty amazing.

Enjoy !
