Almost $900 now, and still 6 days to go..... This one is going sky-high! Itīs a rare model 2345WH and it has the original open book headstock, therefor itīs extremely rare (only the first badges produced in 1975 had this). No serial number, all original except for the missing tremolo arm.....A collectorīs dream! Unfortunately out of my reach at the moment: my old Mazda 323 didnīt pass the APK test unless there would be done some major repairs......but that would cost me more than the actual value of the car, so I have to spend big bucks to buy an other one.... Mazda again, this time a black MX3 (second hand, of course...Iīd like to save some money for buying Ibanez....) Kind greetz, Harry |

what a shame! This would be perfect for your collection, a nice pair with the other white SG. I found it strange that there was no mention of this auction on ICW yet. Is there some sort of unwritten rule that very nice collectables are not mentioned here for the sake of a healthy bidding war?? thomas |

I'm starting to think that this is a refinish, anyone else? The hardware shows wear consistent with 30+ years of age, but the paint looks immaculate. |

Having a second (good) look: you may be right! The hardware shows a lot of wear youīd expect from a well used axe, yet the ivory finish does not show one single ding, dent, scratch, buckle beltmark or whatever. Might there be a possibility that this guitar was more polished than played? Only by polishing and rubbing the hardware too much with a simple cloth in order to keep the guitar clean and shiny the "gold" finish will eventualy disappear also (maybe combined with the fact that the guitar was safely kept in a too moist case, which also affects the hardware). Strange combination indeed.... Harry |

By the way....2 more days to go and already passed the 1300 dollar mark. Curious what circus breaks loose in the last minutes of the auction... Harry |

Yeah, I'm blown away at the price so far - I have one of these myself and didn't realise they were this valuable. I thought the same thing regarding too much polishing perhaps causing the corrosion, but there's one little thing thing that proves it for me; the 11th photo shows an angle where you can see paint of the side of the nut; my 2345W had no lacquer on the original nut. Might not be a smoking gun, but makes my mind up. Having said all that, as a rule I have no problem with refinishes, even on collectibles. Only thing is, with this guitar being a solid finish, any evidence of any repair work is concealed. Pete |

I was wondering if I should try for this baby, but it's way past what I'm willing to pay. Very, very cool though! |

Do they normally have paint around the headstock and neck binding? If so, it makes for an uncomfortable feeling neck. I have an Guild S100 that was refinished in the same fashion as this and I had to remove the finish, because it was very uncomfortable to play. This does appear to be a refin. |

Roland, The paint does normally extend around the outside edges of the headstock and neck binding on the 2345W, but I never found the factory finish to be uncomfortable on mine. Pete |

Pete, That's cool to hear. I just remember when I bought my Guild I had to remove the finish around the neck binding because it just didn't feel right and it didn't look right to me. It just looked kinda' cheap to me. Apparently people bidding on it disagree with me. Patrick |

$2,025. Lotta cash for this Ibanez. Watched it out of curiosity, and it only went up $25 in the last couple minutes of the auction. Guess most bidders lost interest. |
