Author Message   Chucke99 Username: Chucke99 Registered: 2-2007 Posted on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 - 7:50 pm:    Ebay Item #130150834024 Funny, two guys outbid me on this and then over the last 24 hours, both have retracted (well, one was pulled by the seller) so now I'm back on top again at a whopping $99! Anyway, should I end up winning this, I'm wondering about the finish. The seller says he thinks its the original finish, but to me it looks like the guitar was stripped and then stained. Comparing it to 1976 pictures (I can't find any of Silver Series guitars in any of the available catalogs) I think this guitar should have a white body to go along with the black pick guard and maple neck/black inlays. The only natural-color body bass in the catalog doesn't have the combo jazz/precision pickups. So do you agree? Stripped and stained? And if yes, what's the best way to paint over the stain and bring it back to white. I can do the lacquer part just fine, but should I prime first? Or can I start with a sealing lacquer, then go to white lacquer, then to clear? (That's what I'm thinking.) Anyway, all speculation at this point. It could be restored back to white, but get a proffesional to paint it for you. Not some modified "regular" Precision, because you can see that by the position of the split pickup: it´s slightly more placed towards the neck, compared to the pickup position on a Precision. The 2369B/WH is also called "The Tetsu" model, because the former bass player of the Faces, Tetsu Yamauchi, was involved in the developement of this bass. They also came in sunburst, but until now I´ve only seen the white version with the addition "Silver Series" (although it also excists with only "Ibanez" on the head). So: yes, it was stripped and grained, but it might be no problem to restore it to its original white looks. This is the first 2369 B/WH I´ve ever seen that has pearl(oid?) block position markers. Usually these are black.
