Ibanez Byrdland copy -- finish question

Wondering if anyone knows whether any editions of the '70s Byrdland copy came finished in nitrocellulose (or whether they were all done in poly). They all sound pretty nice nonetheless. I had a pre serial # Ibanez Byrdland. Lovely guitar and a pretty accurate copy of the 70's range Gibbo. My one was sunburst but they made them in natural too. My one had a wooden bridge however most came with a ABR type adjustable bridge. Go hunt one down six   Ac Username: Ac Registered: 9-2007 Posted on Monday, September 24, 2007 - 12:06 am:    Sixvsix, thanks for the info.   Petruz Username: Petruz Registered: 5-2004 Posted on Monday, September 24, 2007 - 6:11 am:    nitro vs. poly... i'd like to know if it makes any difference, from a physical (not aesthetic) point of view. the affirmation that "the wood breathes" is ok, but it is not conclusive and does not explain that much after all. a guitar is not a violin, an archtop is not an spanish, so the acoustics aren't the same; plus, there's a pickup too. it would be nice to do a blind test to see if there's any sound difference between two identical guitars with the two finishes.
