Chuck, that's see-through (crimson) red! And there is a nice grain underneath. PLUS it's a SET NECK, so the combination of neck and body is all original. I think the buyer plans an aged blonde refin and will try build it up as a "Korina", because some of us tend to bid outrageous amounts of money for these planks. But a crimson red version is nice too, like on the Mexican Fender Superstrat Deluxe. Very nice with gold hardware and a tortoise pickguard. But I agree that if I was going to spend $656.- there would be some nice possibilities without all the work and parts needed. But if he has the Super 70s, the Noble pots, the witch hat knobs, an original MIJ bridge and tailpiece, Star tuners in the parts bin, and he manages to get the "Korina" colour, he could make a huge profit. Point is: will he be able to get the red stain out of the wood? I THINK the seller already tried to remove something before and this was the best he managed to get: See-through Crimson Red. We have already seen a nice see-through blue one from Lanny Cordola. http://www.vintagerock.com/lanny_cordola/lcguitars _07.html Personally, I think $511.- was really a bargain because of its documented history (Youtube). http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item =300155793422 I find amounts of $2200.- and more for an original difficult to understand. But perhaps the ratio is not the instrument diehard collectors use when they buy such a piece. Not that I don't love the looks of a Korina V or X but I think that you should get a Gibby for that money. To me it's all a hype that could blow over. My gut feeling says these planks are worth about $1100.- max, but that's my gut feeling, not pure ratio either. I'm more into Artists, Artstars, Strats, Teles and Paulas (and acoustics of course). I never had anything with the hard rock scene, I was very much into the Shadows and John Williams from 1977 on, when they made their come-back (The Deerhunter). Ginger |

i thought it had restoration potential. i had the high bid for a good while. but once it went past 300.00 for a stripped body, i decided not to chase. 656.00? somebody wanted it far more than me. congrats to the seller. |

That's a bolt-on neck, Emilio. Although it has with very valuable parts, the starting bid is pretty IMO. I would like to see such good parts on a set neck, so that you know that the serial number really belongs to that piece of wood. Ginger |
