Guys, I stopped in this afternoon. He told me his reserve is around $1000 usd. I may be able to do better. This shop has always treated me well. The 2391 is in much nicer condition than the 2350. The 2350 has fadded to a lemon yellow color and has a few areas where the laquer is starting to check. There is a small spider shaped area near the control knobs, the normal small cracks on either side of the neck joint and finish cracks along both sides of the fingerboard between the nut and 3rd fret. The 2391 has a few small nicks along the back edge of the body, but nothing more major (that I can recall). If you like, shoot me an email and I will go back and take a few more photos. js |

Hi Jeff Personally to me: 1000 bucks is way to much for the set. The 2350WH normally sells for 300 to 350 dollars and the one thatīs offered here is not even in a very good condition. I donīt know about Paulīs opinion. I wrote him an email about the price and Iīll see how he reacts. For the 2391 only Iīd pay around 400 to 450 dollars. We have to include shipping costs, you know (Paul and I both are Dutch). So from my point of view: Iīd pay 400-450 for the 2391 and adding a reasonable price of 300-350 for the 2350WH Iīd say that the seller would have to go down to 750, 800 max. But letīs wait for Paulīs answer. Harry |

I smell some serious shill bidding on this one. Patrick |

Patrick, The high bidder is not new. The bidder has bid on items from seven different sellers. And why would anyone shill bid an auction up to the reserve? It doesn't make any sense. If that bidder is shill, why not quit after they became high bidder, BEFORE reaching reserve? I think most of us can agree that 1400 is too high for those guitars. If that is shill bidding, the seller will only cost himself some money. I can't imagine anyone else bidding any higher, can you? BTW, I know the seller personally. He's not an Ibanez dealer. He deals in PRS, Taylor, Gibson and Fender among others. He uses ebay to move used gear because his hooks are limited and he likes to keep them open for new gear. I can tell you without reservation that he would never shill bid his own auction. js |

Jeff, The high bidder has zero feedback and he/she took the price from $777.78 all the way up to $1400 in the matter of a minute. I'm not saying that it's the guy you know, but it may be someone who plans on selling one of these guitars at some point in the near future. If he/she inflates the price, then others might assume that is what these guitars are worth when he/she lists it. That's just a possible scenario. Patrick |

Intersting take. However, I would hardly classify the scenario you describe as shill bidding. What guarantee does the guy have that the guitars will (re)sell for a price higher than what he will be paying up front? There's no history to suggest they will. That's one heck of an investment for a scam. IMO, the reason he bid so many times was because he was simply probing for the reserve. This crap happens all the time in reserve auctions. Again, I would hardly call that shill. Stupid, yes, but not shill. Perhaps my definition of shill differs from yours and we're simply talking semantics. I think all we have here is an uneducated, inexperienced eBayer that is about to pay $1400 for two guitars that are worth about $900 TOTAL on a good day. Pity. js |

I think my wording got confused. What I'm saying is that the shill bidder may own one or both of these guitars (not the ones being auctioned by the guy you know) and is purposely inflating the price. When he/she sells it in the future people will think that this is what these guitars are worth. It's just an out there theory. I don't think the high bidder will end up paying for the guitar anyways. He/she can just set up a new account once this auction is over and it won't hurt him/her, because there is zero feedback in the profile. A new eBay account is easy to set up. I think this guitar will either get relisted or the shill bidder will retract the bids and the guitars will go for a much lower price. Just my very out there 2 cents. Patrick |
