I picked up a 1976 2350 Custom LP off the bay recently and had it show up today. Turned out a little rougher than I anticipated. Going in I knew the pickguard and jackplate were missing. I also knew the rear pickup had been changed to a Duncan, not sure what the front pickup is yet, and the tuners to Grover. What wasn't mentioned was the tailpiece is missing, 2 screw holes per pickup are stripped and missing and there is a decent size crack in the neck pocket on the treble side. I disassembled the neck from the body and the crack is more than in the clearcoat. I think it can easily be glued and clamped and be very stable, but still... This is the same guy that took 3 days to email me back about whether it had the case. Luckily I got it cheap but it's in need of some attention. What do you know about the tailpiece, is that an interchangeable piece with a Gibson or aftermarket? I suppose the pickguard will have to be a replacement as well, seems these old Ibanez parts are pretty tough to come by. Thanks for any info or words of encouragement-Chris |
