Ebay Item #370000533284 Set neck. Seller says it says Ibanez on the truss-rod cover. I've asked for clearer pictures. The serial number is definitely in Fujigen style, so it could be a Greco too. Here are pics from two catalogs: the 1976 Ibanez Golden Oldies (latest one I can find with a Firebird) and the Greco 1978 catalog. Clearly, the guitar at auction is the same as the Greco, with a set neck and reversed headstock, but that only proves that Fujigen made a set neck in 1977/78. There could have been some branded as Ibanez: |

It's a reverse headstock with banjo machine heads, so it's not identical to the Ibanez 2348 pictured above. I think Harry should have a look at this one. Ginger |

Hmmm difficult: I own this Ibanez Firebird of which doesn´t excist any Ibanez info, yet it IS an Ibanez. Saw one before and therefor now we know of two of these which are proven to be Ibanez. These types are known from the Greco catalogues. So maybe some "originally ment as Greco" instruments were fitted with the Ibanez logo? and could this be the case with the Firebird in the Ebay auction? Chuck, maybe you should ask the seller for a clear picture of the headstock with the Ibanez logo before we can be sure this might bean "Ibanezed" Greco. Harry |
