Really nice. I don't like the pearl tuners on it. I could deal with the Gibby hums though!

The "scratchplate" is original... at least it was there when I bought it ~1982!

I concur with Gramatica. The pickguard is original. What makes you think it is non original, Lvdvondel?

That's what I was thinking....I tried hard to find out why the pickguard could possibly be a replacement, but I couldn't find a clue. To me it's original too.
Curious what Gramatica's arguments are...
Maybe we all overlooked something?

You mean LvdVondel's arguments?!

It IS 4-ply, so that's good. But you can order 4-ply pickguards at backandforth for about 5 euros.

I haven't seen them yet, so I can't compare. This one looks very white and very new. You'd expect some aging after such a long time... but who knows...

Well...

I am the idiot that took out the original Zebra Super 58s and put in the Gibsons, and put on the newer Ibanez tuners!

But the pickgaurd is the same one that was on the guitar when I brought it home on March 30, 1981.

It might look new because the guitar looks way better without it (dig that sunburst!) so it spent close to 25 years in the case and not on the guitar!

Sometimes you'd wish you had a plexiglass pickguard.

Hey, Emilio I see you are in Rijswijk. That's comfortable if you need a replacement 4-ply Paula pickguard. Just hop on the bike!

All of my pickguards are still WHITE. No discolouration to notice. The shape (beveled edge all around) is correct I doubt it you'll find a replacement shaped like this.
The back and forth ones are too thin and will not fit because of different pickup spacing.

Can somebody please explain why I read this same old story over and over again?
Not meaning to personally offend you, Emilio, speaking in general here, but you give me the perfect "hook" to ask this. Maybe I´m touching some Achilles-heels here, but with the threat of everybody falling over me now I´ll pop the question: Why is it when wives/girlfriends tell their hubby that he has too many guitars and that he has to get (partly) rid of them that so many men humbly obey? Is it because the wife/girlfriend threatens them with some horrible consequences if they don´t?
I often read it in Ebay auctions: "my wife thinks I have to many guitars and so I have to sell some of my babies".....Come on! Did they skip the two most important last words "or else"?
Do relations stand or fall with the number of guitars that´s in the house?
Somehow reminds me of that famous Bavaria commercial, where suddenly the dull officeworker realises "What has become of us men" and turns into a rough and tough caveman-like person who´s strolling the woods, eating raw meat and who claims "his" beer.....ending with the main conclusion "It´s time to become men, again"
Time for me to realise that I´m very lucky with my girlfriend who loves a house that´s packed with guitars and who supports me with my passion.....
Guess because I don´t know what "giving in" is on this level that I can´t understand why others do. So maybe I´m being naive or short sighted here.....you can now jump on my back and kill me, but seriously: fill me in, please!

Yes, I understand what you mean.
You really turn me on Harry,I delt with her, she's dead now,my children are happy also,no more pain in the ass(both musicians).
Seriously, I think that the point is ,I did not hold to my budget, read :I spend more that what I can afford(THAT'S WHAT SHE SAYS,AT LEAST) Maybe we should open another thread "Ïbanez Junkies"
John what about that?Did you ever think that in the future people might sue you ?"Ädictive site"
WARNING!Parental advisory: Ibanez can seriously dammage yor home relations,( consult your wife before you register).
Í'll do my best, (still loving Ibanez)

I worked for Harley-Davidson for many years. Whenever a potential Harley buyer said "I gotta ask my wife"... that meant... there was absolutley no way in hell this guy is buying this bike. And it was NEVER because of the wife, but a convenient excuse that let's the guy off the hook. Now... I'm not saying this has anything to do with anybody here... I'm just stating it as a fact... as it pertained to Harley purchases. No doubt the girls can be a big pain in the butt when it comes to their mates axe purchases. I think the girls are jealous in some way actually. They know we love these axes and they sort of, in their twisted female way of thinking, are JEALOUS! Plus, the female mind figures "HMMMMMMMM he paid $1500 for that thingy, he could have spent it on me." Now you got jealousy and rage. Spite is soon to follow. The answer to all this is... buy an axe, buy her something too. Works every time but can be expensive. There's always the "No baby, that's not MY guitar, I am just holding on to it for (insert name) for a while."... That works too but always raises an eyebrow, a female eyebrow. Nice axe by the way, I've seen it before.

Emilio, the LP4-W is 5 euros and 40 cents.
So, according to Bobzilla's tactics you could buy her a Happy Meal supersized with sauce. Total cost: 10.80 euros.
Big deal...

A Happy Meal... supersized...with sauce...
or else....!

That's a pretty guitar. I'm working up the courage to defy the wife and buy a cherry sunburst LP. Before I saw this Ibanez I've been drooling over a couple Burny's up on eBay, and even checked prices on a couple Epiphones today (I know, "GASP!"). Now I see this one and I'm back to being conflicted.

Sorry for the late respons: I presumed the pick guard wasn't original due to the very white color of it. but, seems I am wrong.
Anyway, I want to go for this one. The problem is that bidding ends on sunday and I am going on holidays, yes, sunday. So I won't be able to follow those crucial last minutes on ebay. Hope someone here get's it.

harry, you answered your question for yourself... the difference is having a GIRLFRIEND or a WIFE.
speaking more seriously, the difference is buying "one more" guitar instead of repairing that old bathroom, repainting the house etc... a question of familiar budget equilibrium.
generally speaking i think women are much less prone to "collecting" syndromes. and even if seldom they have more, say, shoes than us males, i never saw any "armani collectors world" forum!

Harry.....You are the man ! I totally agree with your view on mates and guitars ! As you may know I have a few guitars around the house. My wife made the mistake of commenting on my guitar collection very early in our marrage (20 years this May). At that time, I was starting to feel guitly every time I bought another Vintage goodie. I sat her down and explained to her that I would never buy a guitar if it had an effect on our financial situation, my collection is "self sustaining" thru sales of doubles etc. I nipped it in the bud and -although she is annoyed-she understands that this hobby keeps me off the streets and keeps me happy. A happy hubby is a sane hubby. I also go both of my children into bands so its like a family thing....

Now if I can only get her to understand that Saturdays are for guitars, not for "doing something" !

I think you have to set it straight from the day you meet them. "Look, this is me if you don't like it then go find someone else".

I ride a motorcycle and I buy guitars and stuff. I made that very clear to my wife when I met her and she hasn't tried to change me yet.

I find it strange that in a lot of cases, a girl goes out with guy because she likes him, eventually marrys the fella, then she spends the rest of her life trying to change him.

Reading this thread, I recall seeng a sign in the window of a tour bus many years ago.......NO GIRLFRIENDS!

Wowowow!!! No offense or stealing buyers intended Emilio! If it looks so (and I can imagine it looks like that now that I read my post back) I sincerely appologise. To explain why I offered: Lvdvondel wrote he is backing off after your auction reached the 700€ line.

I won't be selling any 2661 for a while......

It's good to know that Paul has one that one day might, who knows, become mine...

Anyone ever have a girlfriend threaten to hurt one of your axes? I had one say she was going to cut the strings on one and I clearly told her I would shave her head then dump her ass! She never went through with it but I still dumped her a few weeks later.
