Gang..
I've watched an Ibanez Strat copy hang on the wall of a guitar store near me for a few months.
They're asking 350, with the OHSC (brown with gold interior).
It looks nearly identical to this one that was listed briefly on eBay. With the exeption of the bullet truss rod and this one has a tremolo.

It's a players guitar. It has some fretwear, and some nicks and dings. It also is missing the original tone and volume knobs and only has one original (neck) pickup. The missing parts have been replaced. So it looks sorta ghetto right now with Gibson knobs and black rail pickups. No serial number.
I played it today and really enjoyed it. I realize that the guitar is only worth what someone would pay for it, but I'm curious if any of you can take a swag at a fair price for the fiddle?
I'm kinda sweet on her. Ideally, I'd pick up an American made Fender Stratocaster, but I'm not really looking for another main guitar.

I would do it.It's not a steal but it seems like fair price for something you don't see everyday.$250 would be ideal but I'd offer $300 cash,mention the work it needs.It wouldn't cost much to bring it back up to specs though.You would have wanted to upgrade the pickups anyway if your going to gig with it. |

Thanks man. I thought 300 would be a fair deal. 250 would be smoking but I doubt they'd go that low. If I get it, i'll throw some pics up. I need to spend more time with it though. |

Weird.. I went and played it today, matched it up against a mexican Stratocaster... The mexi strat was superior. The Ibanez strat has some heavy fretwear and a couple of varnish chips on the fretboard.
I still liked the tone from the neck pickup... but the two replaced pickups weren't very 'strat' sounding.. I think this thing has been rocked pretty hard. |

Was the Ibanez set-up correctly Brent? Also you mentioned it's been hanging for quite awhile. Could the mex strat(YUCK!!) have had new strings and the Ibanez old ones?
Mex's have multiple strips of wood..most I have seen are 8 peices. I'll bet ya with a fret job, new set of strings..and some new pups...that Ibanez will scream...just my opinion. |

Yeah I'm sure the strings were old on the Ibanez. There just wasn't much meat left on the frets. I'm sure she'd be a great guitar with some work. |

I would go for it, I made the mistake once buying a mexican strat, no way it can compete with my ibanez. Most likely you will be changing the pu's on the fender after playing it a while, why not buying this oldie and fixing it up the way you want it. If you dont like it keep the pu's and sell the guitar, buy a mex strat and put in the pu's you already have... |
