are they really better then gibsons? i've heard many people saying that it plays better then any gibson they've played. is this true, even for the bolt on ones? would it be better if i just try to find a set neck ibanez les paul rather then shelling thousands for a gibson? |

Hi Rich Nobody can possibly tell you that one guitar plays better then another. The guy with the big hands will judge a guitar's neck totally different from a guy with small hands.....and all variations in between are possible. How you experience the playability and the "feel" of a guitar is a strict personal matter. That's why the discussion keeps going on between dumbo guitarists that try to convince others of what is supposed to be a good neck. As for the whole thing: Ibanez bolt-on Les Pauls are of much lesser quality and were built totally different from the "real" Les Paul. Can be good guitars though, but they have their own character and it would not be fair to compare them. Ibanez set-neck Les Pauls are way better. They come close to the Gibby's and if you insist to own a Les Paul model but you don't have the money for a Gibby, you might think of Ibanez as a good alternative. But so are the (80's) Tokai, Fernandes and Burny Les Paul copies. Question is if you can get these cheaper than a used Gibson Les Paul in fair condition.... Kind greetz, Harry |

Hey Harry, We forgot to mention the Greco Les Pauls. They are an unbelieveable value IMHO. Peace! |
