Hi All, Just wondering, my set neck 67 V replica is really light - I don't have scales for accurate weight, but it seems much lighter than pretty much any other solid body I own. Just kinda weird, given the shape and thickness it seems that in terms of volume there would have to be more wood in it than my SG, but my SG certainly feels heavier. But I've recently heard/read of other Flying Vs (both Gibson and lawsuits) being very light, and that this is a sign of high quality mahogany. But then Les Pauls, also made from mahogany are generally quite heavy, yet also made from quality timber. I can definitely see the virtues of lighter wood giving more airy resonance, but then when I play my Les Paul it resonates good too. What's the deal? |
