This may sound like a stupid question... Are the Les Paul copies with the plywood bodies and arched ply tops (like the 2350's ever used by pros?

I am thinking of getting one and I don't mind upgrading things like pickups and hardware if the guitar's inherent quality is good enough.

Any opinions?

Did you really think Pete Townshend was smashing up real Les Pauls? Hehehe...

10 February 1974: it doesn't say G.....

I can imagine that the tax office had a problem accepting the 70 guitars per annum story.

"So, Mr. Townshend, and you expect us to believe you smashed up 70 Les Pauls this year? We read the ICW messages too, you know... These price don't go up for nothing!"

Hi Killerv,

Welcome!

I have yet to see the first plywood 2350. They are build with blocks of mahogany and the arched ply top you mentioned. They do have some quality inconsistencies but IMNSHO they range for fair to fairly good guitars. To make a very decent player they just need some hardware upgrades like tuners and outputjack. Change pups to your liking. If you play hi gain stuff you might have to change pups to control feedback. That's about it.

My dad was/is a (semi)pro player for most of his life. He picks up the 2350 he gave me as my first guitar on a regular base ever since he bought in for me in 1973 and he still has his share of Gibsons and Fenders of vintages most people can ony dream about.

Hi, thanks for the help so far. My mistake about the 2350's then... I've actually seen lawsuit guitars (Aria, etc) where the back was also plywood, so I just assumed this was the case with the bolt-on Ibanez LP copies too.

This may be a really stupid question, but where can I find good accurate lists of specs on lawsuit guitars (especially Ibanez) on the net?
