Which LP copy would you buy?

So I'll second P@ul on that one. I've also got some strange hybrid Cherry Wine Standard with all the appointments of the 70's Professional model... Super 80's pickups, fancy tail stop bar, bridge, etc. although unlikely to find many more like this, it also sounds fantastic, the Super 80's are wonderful pickups. I've seen another similar on ebay that was a different color that had all the same extras mine does, and it wasn't super expensive either.   Snowjays Username: Snowjays Registered: 09-2004 Posted on Sunday, February 04, 2007 - 11:44 pm:    I have preferred the 2386 more for comfort simply for the body contour on the back. I have an LP Gold Top. Where do this fit in the heirarchy? Upper middle lower level? I also have a Roadstar bass and have no idea what it is worth if anything. How do I know what model it is. The only thing on the neck plate is Quadra? Any help would be appreciated. I see a reference to it being used on 1980 Studio And RoadstEr basses. Check out page 22 of the 1980 "Step Ahead" catalog.   Tbplayer Username: Tbplayer Registered: 4-2007 Posted on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 - 12:15 pm:    stacey, as for quailty, that goes wthout saying really. they are all pretty much spot on good. collectable? that is what the market will bear. set-necks are a liitle more sought after. will this be a player or a wall hanger? playablity has always been solid. sound...you can always change the pick-ups (please no hate mail. players often want more punch, with the same feel) but they all sound great to me.   Gemberbier Username: Gemberbier Registered: 5-2006 Posted on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 - 5:09 pm:    IMO, there's nothing wrong with changing pickups, as long as you keep the original pickups with the guitar. If you're really fond of the sound of the replacements, reverse the mod before you sell, because buying new ones for each new guitar is costly and you will get a better price. What I think you want to know is: The solid body, carved top, set neck models (2650(custom) & 2651(standard)) are about the same weight as are Gibsons of this era. They have the typical Les Paul sound to me. The bolt on neck, arched tops (f.i. 2350(custom) & 2351(standard)) are quite a lot lighter if compared to Gibson Les Paul models of the same era. These models sound different, likely caused by the semi hollow construction. There are a lot of models Ibanez produced which were never made by Gibson. The Ibanez model numbers are followed by two letters, indicating the finish. 2350BL (black) 2350 wh (white) There are some other letters, like 2350L (lefty) or 2351DX (deluxe=mini humbuckers). In some models DX stands for set neck (2337/2337DX) Les Paul special bolt on/Les Paul special set neck). Hope this helps.
