Hey Ibanez people - do you know anything about their Rick copies?? Especially any Ibanez copies of the Rick 330 or 360 and Ibanez copies of the Rick 4001 Bass?? Thanks - I hope you guys can help me! |

Ibanez Clone that has had almost every part changed to a real rick part. Looks just like a 4001.

I used to own a 4001 copy, in vg- condition. It was a nice playing bass, actually lighter and played better than most Rick's I've seen.
It only had a single truss rod, which I think is an advantage. Otherwise everything else was the same as a 4001, except Ibanez on the head stock and a strip of maple down the back instead of walnut.
I recently sold it with hsc for 450. It was a decent player |

i have a rick 360 copy in my collection,
6 string, fireglow (as rick would say)
it has the 60's diecast type of emblem. |

I had a 4001 with bolt on neck it looked and played fine but sound was not good due to cheap pick-ups. The pick-ups did not look like Rickenbacker pick-ups.
My experience is that some bolt on neck replicas of fixed neck gutars have junk electronics but look good. They often have non-Ibanex pick-ups but japanese humbucker look alikes (sometimes single coils in a humbucker housing).
I have also a Gibson 330 copy with the same story.
I paid ~ 100$ with one of the pick-ups missing, and I had a spare
I sold it as I got a good offer.
I have tried one of the fixed neck 4001 copies (2388b) and this is fine. |

i have got a 360 copy. it´s from 60´s. what is the suitable price for this kind of guitar? i might buy a replacement neck to this guitar, cause it is very expensive to make the old neck as good as new. does anybody know where i could buy replacement neck, which is quite a cheap and good? thanks |

Hi,
I don't know if any of you can help.
I bought a 4001 bass a while ago that I thought was a Rickenbacker. It plays and sounds like a rick(I've had one before) but when I checked it out, I was told it was a copy, either Ibanez or Univox. If I post the photo's, can anyone tell me by looking at it if it's genuine or not?

Well, I can't guarantee you if it's possible to identify your bass only by photo, but you can't loose by trying, can you? So let's see the "Rick"....

The 'rick' has a through body neck made of at least 5 different types of wood. The body is made of 4 different types of wood going in different directions. The treble pick up is the same as a pre 70's rick (and the cut out in the body under the scratchplate will only fit this type) but the bass pick up has been changed to a crap one.
I know this coz I had to get it rewired properly when I bought it.
It was originally 'fireglow' but this has been stripped off by the previous owner, and a lot of original rick parts have been put on it.

I own a Rick (i guess 4001) copy, beautiful fireglow mist (marroon), small front p.u., the bridge p.u. has been replaced for a diMarzio by the former owner.That was a common thing to do back then in the late seventies. Nice, fast bolt on neck, mono jack. Its a really nice multi functional bass. Complete with square, brown case. |

I have a source for Rickenbacker guitars - right now I have 330 copies and an iffy John Lennon copy in stock. These are high quality, Korean setneck 330 copies. The Lennon copies are made in China and have bolt on necks, but they're quite inexpensive.
