Hi all!
Please help me out on this one: I'm considering to buy an Ibanez V thats in the german Ebay. See

The guy claims this guitar is original, bought by himself like this in 1976. Only changed the pickups. The "what seems to be a jack output" is a screwed on plastic plate with Ibanez logo. The trussrodcover was there from the beginning (did Ibanez borrow this one from a '67 mahogany v?) and the headstock is natural coloured in stead of black. Headstock has no raised Ibanez logo The guitar has no serial number. What do you guys think: could this be one of the earliest V's, maybe a "try out", a prototype? Please react quickly, because auction ends within two days.

Hi all, part two.
Made a slight mistake (was in a hurry) about the colour of the headstock. What ment was: the BACK of the headstock is natural. As far as I know Ibanez Korina V's headstocks had black backsides.

Hi all!
Well, the biddings on the V went sky-high. That is; too high for me, keeping in mind that the instrument brought up many questions about it's originality. So, I let it go when the price went over 1200 German Marks (about 500 US$). That may seem foolish to you, but over here in Holland the Ibanez Korina V and Explorer are less valuable than in the US. Going prices for an original example in good shape may go between 600 and 800 US$. Recently I bought a beautiful Moderne, all original, including OHSC, for about 800 US$. So with this V I felt uncomfortable going over 500.
I forgot to download the pictures, but I think you can imagine enough by reading the description:
The body was a Gibson '58-style korina, black pickguard (the "correct" one, not going around the bridge, but partly underneath), jack output on inner side of the treble"leg", round white plastic plate with Ibanez logo inscripted screwed on frontside/bottom of treble"leg" (where the Gibson output is), headstock has a big white trussrodcover with Ibanez logo inscripted, the same that you can find on the '68 mahogany-version V's. Yet it has the more pointy headstock ('58 style). Set in neck, no serial number.
Hybrid? Prototype? Original or fixed together?
I was too uncertain to continue bidding.....
