Hi all!
I'm about the happiest Ibaneezer at this moment, I guess! I was able to buy a really, really stunning beauty from a German fellow. I always thought that this could probably be one of the most difficult-to-get Ibanez guitars, but here I am, looking at my new acquisition. A fully original Ibanez Dan Armstrong Plexi see-through guitar copy!!!! Yessssssss!!!!
What I already know: Searching my archives I only found this model listed in a early seventies catalogue (not sure what year. My guess: around 1973) It was pictured (like all the other guitars) with no brand name on the headstock. Later on I found another picture of this model in "The ultimate guitar book" that had "Ibanez" on the headstock and was said to be built in 1975.
My guitar has no brandname and no serial number. I guess it's one of the older ones, because it has two pickups of the "Maxon" brand. As far as I know Ibanez used those pickups only in the earliest years of the seventies (until they started to make Super 70's)
My questions: does anybody know between what years these guitars were in production? And if "The ultimate guitar book" is right and this D.A. plexi was still in production in 1975, are there any of these models that do have Super 70's?
Let me know if you know more than I do!!!
(by the way: I paid 560 US$ for this rare one)
