Peoples,
It doesn't cease to amaze me , whenever I think I won't find any old Ibanez guitars anymore, out of the blue I spot something, that sticks out like dogs balls. My latest acquisition is a March '76 Precision copy, in excellent original condition, with a dark natural 2 piece body and a maple neck. The neck appears to be one piece with the old script logo and has black block inlays, it also appears to be bound. The tuners are the old open back type.It came with a top of the range Non-OHSC, Boss tu12 tuner and quality strap with schaeller straplocks. The only downside is the pickups are non original, latest EMG active types, yeah real pity!!!

It plays absoultely brilliantly, anyone hazard a model#, I will try and get a digi cam for some photos, BTW I paid Aud$260 in a Pawnshop in Brisbane OZ.Also any ideas the type of wood in the body, Dark natural, don't know if the dark is a stain, I think so, very heavy wood.Maybe Maple as well.

Hi Scrooge!
Nice bass you bought there! I envy you; would love to have that one in my collection.
If you're interested: you can replace the EMG's by originals!!! Hasy and I (from the german vintage side you allready discovered) have been able to lay our hands on a great deal of original Ibanez pickups from the 70's, brand new and in original package. Never been used. Amongst them there are several Jazz-bass pickups. Go to the site and contact Hasy, he will tell you all about it. After all: your Ibanez will raise in value when it's original as possible!
Greetz,
Harry

Harry,
That's a great site you boys run over there, and it's a credit to you both.I will email you my collection, if you could use any photo's of some less common models, I may have.I appreciate the offer of the pups, but kinda like the ones in it.It does play and sound fantastic, no exaggeration.I know it's not original but true to my nick, I'm kinda thrifty on spending big sums of money, LOL!!.

All my gits I have bought really inexpensively, patience and luck have been on my side over the years.

From what I can suss out, from some old timers, the exchange rate between Japan and Australia was very favorable in the '70's and a lot of Vintage Ibanez made it's way to our shores. There may even still be a bargain or two out there yet.

John has some photo's of the Bass and hopefully will post soon
