Hello all! A question popped up, so I thought: I'll ask the experts. Ibanez made several models Strats, Teles, Jazzbasses and Precision basses. Normal numbers started with 23, like 2365 B for Jazzbass, 2366 B for Precision, 2375 for Strats etc. I know that the "Challenger" series had always a number starting with 25 (2575 for Strat, 2565 for Jazzbass, 2566 for Precision etc.). Question: did the "Silver Series" had different model numbers too, or was it just the standard number (starting with 23) plus the addition "Silver Series"? I'd like to know because I want to be as complete as possible in my "Ibanez Identification Guide" that I'm writing at the moment. (By the way: I've got the permission from Mr. Kobayashi from Hoshino Gakki in Japan to use the pictures of the old catalogues for illustration purposes!!! YEAH!) You'll hear from me! Greetz, Harry |

Just to put this question back on the recent added messages. Maybe somebody could help me but missed this question? Harry |

I don't know what "model number" mine is, do I assume "2514" which follows the build date (B78 = Feb.1978) ??? ... I have since found out this one is a Challenger series strat (uncatelogged) that was branded as a Silver Series then shipped to Australia. Found one other that had the same thing happen to it. I'm curious when referring to model numbers what we would define this one as ?
