Author Message allan Posted on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 11:03 am:    this guitar is in 9/10 condition and I bought it new in Australia It has been in its case under the bed for the last 26 years. has anyone got one like it? I believe you told me this was a bolt-on neck, correct? In the U.S., I'd guess it would be around $450-500. If it were a setneck, probably closer to $700. Just curious, tap the top of the guitar all around, but especially at the crest of the arch and right behind the bridge. If you hear a hollow sound in these areas, then the top is laminated (maybe birch) and shaped with some hollows under it, then glued to the mahogony body. If it sounds solid, you've probably got a maple cap, which is certainly more accurate and desireable for a "copy". allan Posted on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 11:03 am:    Many thanks for your help John,the guitar has a bolt-on neck and is a hollow top.It weigh`s in at 9lbs.Ihave no intensions to sell it,I have had it to many years to do that. Could this be a later than 72 model per chance? If not, what's the deal with the "better" tuners and non rounded neck at the neck joint? Just wondered what you guys knew about that. The tuners look like what I've got on my 77 Wine Red Standard model, and on my 77 artist accoustic. Greetings, Harry Shane P Posted on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 11:03 am:    Hi Harry, THe guit definately has a hollow cavity under the top.I am not sure but I suspect it may be a ply top, although these photo makes the color look really cheesy, it does have a nice even flametthrough the top.It looks much more natural than this el cheapo digital camera makes it look. Sound wise it sounds bloody good,I know the term vintage sounding is often overused, but these pickups are certainly that, clean with an almost jazz like sound with a brighter balance. I think Spiro made earlier comments regarding the fact that there is something about the hollow cavities in these guitars that realy make them them resonate. He is dead right, a friend has a 77 bolt on LP with a dimarzio super distortion in the bridge and he just gets a killer tone and sustain with a big amp.I think this was probably a lucky accident from Ibanez more than good design and it is interesting to see it Gibson use it on the Joe Perry LP. It is a joy to play and much lighter than my PF400 I rate the PF 400 higher than this, this second and my 77 custom Agent third in the LP stakes. allan Posted on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 11:03 am:    hi Shane, That`s a great guitar you`ve got there well worth the money, when i bought mine there was only the main choice of Black.I think mine was the only gold one I`ve seen. has anyone else seen a gold one?
