This just sold on eBay for $300. Anybody got the 411 on the model?

Hi Mr. Roadstar! You might consider this as Ibanez' first attempt to come close to building a Strat replica. As you can see the setup and the layout are not quite faithful to the original. You might say it's a kind of hybrid between the model 2020 and the real Strat copy as it was introduced in 1970. Until now Hasy and I have only found some pictures of it, but we can -thanks to some details (like the metal trussrod cover, the small knobs)- date this guitar defenitely in the late 60's (68/69). It seems that Ibanez abandoned the metal logo around 1970 in general, on some models maybe earlier. We did see some more Ibanez's with the "new" style logo that were clearly built in the late 60's. As far as I can see this early version of the Strat has (like one we saw before) the "painted" script logo. Greetz, Harry |
