Great instrument. Wanted one from that real early period but I'll keep looking. One can never have enough inventory... The amp in the background is a late 90's Mesa Boogie Maverick in a lovely quilted maple cab. You can tune it up so it sounds like an old Vox AC-30 or a Brown Fender Twin Reverb. MAYA is made in the same factory as the Ibanez and I have talked at length on the phone with the owner of this instrument (who I bought MY Byrdland copy from). It is a great instrument and I was SORELY tempted to get it myself. BUT I just bought a new fully loaded iMac, a digital video camera, my Ibanez GB-10 and a Gibson Chet Atkins CE (and more)... So I'm pretty tapped out. It's got the correct Byrdland scale and all. Actually myself and the owner were trying to contact YOU because you had expressed an interest in a Byrdland copy to me... But as a collector of Ibanez (however...I own one double-neck of the sub-brand Antoria) I don't want to start collecting all those other brands Hoshino made: Penco, Greco, Cimar, Custom, Aria, Maya......my walls are loaded with 83 Ibanez guitars/basses and I almost have to look for a bigger house.... ;-) If the headstock would have read "Ibanez", I sure would go for it immediately. I'm aware of the fact that due to my "tunnel-vision" I let go of a whole lot of great guitars, amongst witch undoubly is this beautiful Maya Byrdland, but hey....you have to draw the line somewhere, I'm afraid. Bigmike (Bigmike) Posted on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 - 12:30 am:    Johns, Harry finally posted yesterday and I got a more updated email address for him. Lucky guy - it's a great guitar. And like I said I wanted to keep it in "the family", glad I was able to do that. As for the GB10 I have - wow !!! I had one I found on consignment back in the late '80s... it was a blonde '78 - it was beat but I loved it. But while I was in chef school I had to part with all my guitars and amps one by one to keep the bills paid. THIS GB10 reminds me of why I love GB10s - though I have a phobia for guitars with volutes this GB10 has that neck and action that keeps you playing LOTS longer than any other guitar... You can get great jazz, rock, blues sounds. I use it when playing out in my band at Convalescent Homes. I'm a big guy and have learned to like thin bodied guitars a lot - they're more comfortable for us LARGE SIZED guys... ;-))) Like I said before I really appreciate all the quick responses from members interested or not. Happppppyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!! I had contact with Mike yesterday and I'm very glad to tell you all that we've got a deal. This beautiful and rare Ibanez Byrdland is gonna get a nice place in my collection over here in Holland where it will be well taken care of, honoured and "saved", like my pal Hasy and I use to call it when a new one comes in our collection(s). I'm very keen on keeping those oldies preserved in their original condition, so no "better" pickups or tuners will ever be mounted in this one. This guitar is fully original and it will stay this way. Mike and I came together on a very nice deal and Mike I must say: you're a hell of a guy! And boy, Mike did not say one word too much. Although it's obvious that this guitar has been well used (and having played the beauty, I can fully understand why: it has a dream-neck!!!!) I'm sooooo happy to add this guitar to my collection. It might take a little while, but in near the future this baby will appear in the section "collectors" on our homepage with a picture and a little story. Mike, I very much appreciate the way we did business. I wish that all deals went that smooth. You're a great guy and I'm proud to continue your love for this Byrdland over here in Holland. It could never have found a better "new home". Thanks for everything and who knows....maybe we get in business again. If I could pick one expression that encapsulated doing this deal it would be Yeah, that's cool... I don't remember a guitar deal where it was that smooth AND each party felt it was a good deal. Guy had replaced the Ibanez Byrdland tailpiece with a real Gibson one. Pickguard was deteriorating and that was causing some tarnish on the pickup covers (so what ELSE is new there).
