Hello, I saw a Ibanez Bob Weir Reissue with vines on the neck for sale, the guy wanted $3,000 for it and said it has been unplayed since he purchased it new from a music store out east. It's red[transparent] with all the regular appointments. since it has been many years ago that I had mine, whats the story on these? rare, I would guess, can't imagine they made many[what year were these built?] I couldn't find much out about this so..... Comments and Information on this would be appreciated Thanks Guys! Best Regards D1 |

I could be wrong but recall seeing the reissue at a UK trade fair around 1995/6. I would guess again and say you could probably pick an original up for a lot less money. Even if a few parts were missing (non-original) it is possible to track them down. six |

Doubleone: Take a look at this thread in the Vintage & Custom Electrics section: 1994 reissue Weir with vines. Has anyone else come across one? |

HI Guys, Thanks for the info on the Bob Weir Reissue. I found the thread John and read the comments posted there and I read the one about it being over price and that the build quality was not as good as an orignal. couldn't comment myself as I could only view it in the case and was not able to play it.It sure looked nice though but what a price.owner claimed this was well within reason as this reissue was rarer[any idea how many were made?] the the original issue Weir with the vines. body was ash with a red transarent[dark red almost a wine color on the perimeter fading into a see through red in the middle of the top where you could see the grain through the finish, were any of the original issue Bob Weir guitars available in a color like this? I didn't think so. I'll take your advice Six and look for an original and refurbish parts if needed and be farther ahead money wise.Regards D1 |
