According to my '85 catalog it's a FG100. Juergen |

From my understanding - if you want a "real" Byrdland replica - that is one with correct scale and fretboard width you need to locate an older Byrdland copy - from say around 1977. And you must ask the seller to measure the distance from the nut to the bridge. I've seen a number of really striking Byrdland copies but the most authentic and accurate were the ones made by Sugihara. And those DO come up from time to time... Remarkable guitars for the money. Look for my "my two new blonde friends" thread. BigMike |

Here's a pair of lovely Byrdlands. On the left a 1977 Ibanez (Sugihara made) blonde - on the left a 1971 Gibson Byrdland. I had both in the house probably two days before I sent off the Blonde Ibanez to a member from our board. I gotta tell you that the Sugihara does NOT have a carved top but damn, it's a sweet instrument. NOT having a carved top could be better for you if you play out a lot and need to play a little louder...

Byrdland Schmyrdland!!! That ebay seller really knows how to talk it up. An FG100 is in no way similar to a Byrdland. Wrong scale length, wrong materials, wrong shape, wrong hardware!! Why he didn't just look at the label and advertise it as an Fg100 I'll never know!! As a proud owner of two FG100's, I can quite happily say they are great guitars. Cheers, Mark |

Yup. FG100's nice, but it's no Byrdland by any stretch. -Sven |
