A few month ago I got a lefty Ibanez Les Paul from january 1977 with setneck and flamed maple top.
I thought it was a 2386.
But now the confusing fact: the top ist not carved but hollow and laminated with a thin flamed maple top.
The color ist cherry sunburst, like all the 2386 I´ve seen.
Is this a 2386? What else model number can it be?
Wonder if this is a special model or only an example for Ibanez putting together every part in stock - at that late time -, early before stopping copying?

Hi Sven!
Yours IS a 2386, to be fully correct: a 2386L. Three guesses what the "L" stands for....
Ibanez made many bolt-on Les Pauls: these had laminated arched (not carved) tops made out of some kind of plywood. Lateron Ibanez started also making Les Paul copies with set necks and solid carved tops. A few models can be considered as "in betweens". The 2386 as well as the Custom Agent (Les Paul yes - Les Paul no?) had set necks, but the well-known arched top (so with hollow chambers underneath). I have a 2386 and my pal Hasy has a 2386 L, so we know from our own experience.
So your guitar is fully "normal" according to Ibanez' construction standards.
