Author Message Supascoopa Username: Supascoopa Registered: 11-2004 Posted on Wednesday, November 03, 2004 - 1:07 pm:    I've come across that weird Rick 4001 replica by Ibanez, it has Ibanez written on trussrod cover, but looks nothing like 2388B or 2389B. It has p-bass style pickup in the neck position and j-bass style pickup under this metal plate that says "ibanez something". It would be great for our archive, if it really WAS an Ibanez, which I strongly doubt. If it is or ever was one, it surely isn't in original condition anymore: the logo on the trussrod cover looks like home-made to me: Ibanez never used this type of letter for the logos. Black scratchplate? Unknown so far on any Rick copy Ibanez ever made. Split P-bass pickups? Nope, none original! Block inlays on the fretboard? Nope: Ibanez Ricky's always had the well-known triangular inlays like the originals had. So: I'm 99,99% sure this bass is NOT an Ibanez. First of all, it's no Ibanez - in fact it's several thousand miles from being an Ibanez! It is actually a Jolana D-Bass, and it was made in Czechoslovakia some time in the mid '80s. One of these appeared on UK Ebay a few months back & ended up selling for about £250 (about $440). Anyway, I hope this resolves the confusion! Jon.
