hello, I just started playing bass a few months ago after years of guitar. I guess the Ibanez 2365 could be the ideal solution for my music style and my cash flow as well. I just have a doubt about the pickups: I some many pictures showing Fender jazz style pickups, while I jumped also on this: http://www.uni-ulm.de/~s_opfaen/guitar/index.php?guitar=bass were this chrome pickups stock or did someone change them? I saw a web page of a music shop selling the 2365 with the same chrome pickups. anyone can help with some info please? |

I have an Ibanez Silver Series Jazz bass from 1977 (a bit earlier than the 2365) with original pickups. I would think they'd have the same pickups. Someone will correct me below if I am wrong. This bass doesn't have chrome pickups. They are black plastic. There are chrome metal covers, which are not part of the pickup, but conceal their ugliness (?) . If it had chrome pickups originally, I would be surprised that they cover them with chrome pickup covers. The bass is incredible sounding and playing! It was one of the best instruments I ever bought. I would never consider changing the pickups. Scott |

Scott, are you referring to the "ashtray" pickguard covers or to the chrome covers you can see in the pictures in the link I posted? so the bass shown is to be considered as all original? |

Hi Gio: I'll try to be as clear as I can. My bass is original and does not have chrome pickups. It has the big curved pieces of metal (ashtray pickguards) that wrap around a half inch over the pickups and are not connected to the pickups, but the pickup covers themselves are not chrome. They are black plastic with metal poles shining through. It may be possible that the chrome pickups are original. All I can say is that on my later model (silver series), the jazz bass pickups aren't chrome. They are plastic/resin. Maybe this review I found might yield a clue: http://www.harmony-central.com/Bass/Data4/Ibanez/2365B-Jazz-Copy-01.html Scott |
