Hi everyone! I have IBANEZ ROADSTER BASS (RS - 824BK), made in Japan in 1980. I wonder if anyone could give me an idea for how much I could sell it, please |

There's a model RB630BK on eBay right now with a "Buy It Now" price of $225. I don't know if your model is higher or lower quality, but that's a starting point. Ebay Item #270137167808 |

They're totally different instruments from different eras. I think the RS824 has got even better papers than the RB630, which is a really fantastic Precision Bass replica (I have a white one). What makes the RS824 still more valuable? - 2 pickups: PB and JB, so in fact it's a PJ Bass; - 24 frets; - 1980 is considered to be a REAL vintage year and a very good one: just look at the truss rod covers of the ST models from 1979 and 1980. You got brass instead of plastic in 1980. Just lovely! I wouldn't be surprised if you got $350-500 for it, if it's good shape. Ginger |

Here's the 1980 pricelist. http://www.ibanezrules.com/catalogs/price/1980/Jan /p04.jpg It was $440.- while the ST-50 was $325.- And what's nice on these REAL vintage axes, is that they sell for the same or more than what they originally cost. So, you can find an ST-50 for $300-500 which makes an average of $400. So it's not unreasonable to expect that the bass could make a 75-125% of its original list price, which would be somewhere between $330.- and $550.- which stretches the price range a little bit in both ways. And of course it all depends on the condition of the instrument. Ginger |

By the way, I am selling it on Ebay just now - should anyone be interested, look it up. It's already going for 150 GBP (approx $300) - so, see if you could beat it! Ebay Item #300125232734 |
