i was wondering if anyone has got review by guitar magazines on ibanez guitars like for instance the 2622 or the ar 300 serie or the ar100pw. so i dont mean sale posters or leaflets from ibanez on models but actual reviews. i have a dutch review on the ar50bk witch was in i think 1981 but i am not sure... i would like to get mailed some review scans of the listed types of guitars. thanx for mailing me some in advance ; ekkerman@quicknet.nl |

Interesting idea But it is (probably) hard to find them. What came on my mind is: do libraries have old music magazines in their collections. Or you can find them occasionally at second hand book stores, on eBay etc. You can find user reviews also of older guitars at Harmony Central, e.g. http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/ product/Ibanez/AR300+Artist/10/1 This is a mix of 80's and current AR300s and between. What you could look for is a collection of old "Music Maker" magazines. I know that John Dirven sold a bunch for about hundred guilders, some years ago. His ad said "bieden" back then, so I mailed him to know his minimum price, and I'm on his mailing list since then. I don't really bother... Among the 31,000 casino and viagra spam mails since April his mails are a blessing. Then there's Nicky Moeken, who as an editor (ex-"Gitarist" and "Gitaar Plus"), will be well-documented. The stuff you're looking for has become "vintage" itself now. Ginger |

Interesting posting, actually there where always a lot of reviews of Ibanez guitars in European magazines. A good example of a very good Ibanez friendly magazine is "Gitarre und Bass". i that era i used to buy this magazine monthly,i still have little collection laying around somewhere. I have the orginal Artfield AFD5 review available upon request. Gitarre und Bass has a very good archive , you only have to pay for it to download the old magazines. here is the link: http://www1.gitarrebass.de/ on the left side is abox where you can search. Wouldn't it be nice if JohnS creates a space on this website where we can upload those reviews ? |

Hi Pat, I received your mail. Thanks. I was busy writing a response on my office computer but I had to pick up the kids from school. Didn't have time to finish it. The orthography check of my new Mozilla Thunderbird hasn't been set-up right yet, so it's like driving with the handbrake. Summary: the "Gitarre und Bass" archives don't go further back than 1986. "Music Maker" started in 1977, so that could cover more vintage models from the old days perspective. What is nice, is that there is a pretty recent review of the Ibanez Artist 2630 in the "Gitarre und Bass" archives (12/2003). The price €0.80 is for one article of 2 pages, not for the whole magazine. Greetz, Ginger |
