I collect/play early '80s DII's and currently have 7 of them... 2 - 1981's, 2 - 1982's, 2 -1983's and one X-series 1984 (which has a much different neck than the others)..I don't have a pic of this one

One of the '82's and one from '83 are the mahogany bodied versions, the other's being basswood. The mahogany body's came with the transparent red back finish... like this..

In pic 3 above you can see the difference between the two finishes.
