Hi

I'm looking to buy this Blazer online & the owner said he bought it in the 90's but the serial # quoted is not consistent with the way Ibanez does it. It's F506784. I thought Blazers stopped production in 1985.These are the photos posted by the seller. I'm waiting for a photo of the neckplate with the serial from the seller. Any input will be much appreciated.

The Blazer was reissued in the 1990's. Here's a 1995 catalog:

http://www.t3-kundenserver.de/htmlpages/redasys/_c ore/databases/t_meinl-uploads/1995-96_blazer_serie s.pdf

The strange this is that it doesn't have a 2-humbucker version in the catalog.

Here's a 1996 brochure, again, your guitar is not there:

http://www.t3-kundenserver.de/htmlpages/redasys/_c ore/databases/t_meinl-uploads/1996_blazer_product_ news.pdf

There are also 1997 version, fancier than 1995-1996.

Crossconcepts:

this one is confusing me. It's got some earmarks of the first series of Blazers (body shape, wood, headstock logo and pickguard), but doesn't match anything in the catalogs.

Then it's got somethings that just aren't right, like the trem and the black truss rod insert on the headstock. I've never seen a trem even remotely close to that or anything other than the bullet or wood plugged TR on a Blazer. And then there's the serial number that doesn't match at all. I'm stumped!

Thanks MK & John

I was stumped too & was hoping someone from the forum can shed some light on it. Anyway, I better not risk buying it and having a mismatch guitar. The seller who is from UK said he does not know very much about but he got it from a shop new in the 90's .

I actually have another option. I am currently testing 1984 Roadstar II. This 1 is all stock & it sounds great. But the body paintwork is bad & the upper maple fretboard is worn from too much string bending till it actually have a few groves on the fretboard. So it requires restoration work.

Appreciate all your input.
